On September 16, 2025, at approximately 12:00 PM, an Arizona State University employee was illegally detained after being called by ASU Police for a meeting.ASU Police Officer James Quigley reportedly arranged the meeting under the pretense of discussing a “concern” about a social media post.
After the brief meeting, the employee was surrounded by approximately 15 plainclothes ICE agents who used vulgar and aggressive language and behavior.
This employee is not a criminal. He is a member of our community who was dehumanized by this system – and ASU’s cooperation made this possible.
This is unacceptable.
We are calling on Arizona State University and President Crow to:
1. Publicly denounce this incident and the actions that put ASU staff and students at risk.
2. Immediately end all cooperation with ICE.
3. Ensure policies are implemented to prevent future targeting and harm of our community members.
ASU must protect the safety and dignity of its staff and students – not partner with agencies that terrorize them.
